The Works
Christoph’s independent photographic work is created primarily in nature and while traveling, providing balance to his professional work.
Philosophy
When you look through the images in the galleries, you may find that many of them show rather less inviting scenes and views that do not immediately trigger the classic “I want to be there right now” feeling in the viewer. Christoph’s photography is driven by the desire to show the world from its mystical, often inhospitable side. Perfect blue-sky weather and postcard views usually hold little interest for him when he looks through the viewfinder. Brooding cloudscapes, snowstorms, rain and foggy weather draw him in and repeatedly form the basis of his images. The resulting pictures, when finally presented as framed artworks, add exactly the kind of contrast to a room that a feel-good interior needs.
“Imagine a picture hanging in your living room that feels like a large window looking out into the world. Would you really want to stay indoors for long if the sun were shining brightly outside? Most people, I believe, feel even more at home when, outside their front door, the wind is raging, snow is falling, rain is pouring down, or the landscape disappears into dense fog.”
“All the light
in the
world is
meaningless
without
shadow.”
– Christoph Vögele –
