Philosophy

If you look at the images in the galleries, you might notice that many of them depict less inviting views and show views that do not immediately evoke the classic “I’d-love-to-be-there-right-now” feeling in the viewer. My photography thrives on the endeavor to show the world from its mystical, often inhospitable side. Fair weather and postcard motifs with brilliant blue skies generally hold no significance for me when I look through the viewfinder. Cloud-covered moods, snow flurries, rain, and fog attract me and consistently form the basis for my images. This results in motifs which, in their final form as a framed artwork, provide the necessary contrast to the feel-good ambiance of a room.

“Imagine a picture hanging in your living room that feels like a large window looking out into the world. Would you really want to stay indoors for long if the sun were shining brightly outside? Most people, I believe, feel even more at home when, outside their front door, the wind is raging, snow is falling, rain is pouring down, or the landscape disappears into dense fog.”
